I don’t really eat port apart from bacon (hardly) so I decided for this week’s meal plan I was going to make a bbq pork steak and see how it goes. This week’s meal is bbq pork steak with mixed grains and vegetables.
- Home made BBQ sauce
- Cous cous
- Bacon lard on
- Black pepper
I marinated the pork in the homemade bbq sauce and let it sit for about 4-6 hours if you don’t have time to wait 30minutes to an hour is fine. You cook it in the oven 180 as I wanted it to be extremely soft and can easily be pulled apart. The pork had enough sauce that I was able to leave it in the over for about 2 hours and still came out looking good.
As the pork is in the oven I had started frying down the bacon lardon. I just added black pepper to it. After I fried it down I took it out and left the juice I will be adding water to it to add the mixed grains.
I know people don’t cook Bulgar and cous cous but because I was just being me I mixed the grain and put extra boiling water into the pot and left it for about 30minutes cause that’s how long it takes the quinoa to cook through. I added back the bacon and just a bit of sea salt.
I used frozen veg it’s just better and easier for me and doesn’t go off quickly. Once everything is cooked pack it in your takeaway bowl or plate.
